Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Design Engineer to design and develop jigs, fixtures, and precision tooling as well as create 3D part models for molding and manufacturing applications. The role involves translating design requirements into functional, manufacturable solutions while ensuring high standards of accuracy, cost-efficiency, and production readiness. This is a hands-on engineering design position that requires expertise in CAD modeling, manufacturing processes, and mold design principles.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design and develop custom jigs, fixtures, and assembly tooling to support manufacturing and quality inspection processes.
● Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for molded components, tooling, and fixtures.
● Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) analysis to optimize part design for molding processes (injection molding).
● Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and R&D teams to ensure tooling and fixture designs meet ergonomics, safety, and efficiency standards.
● Conduct tolerance analysis and GD&T application for precision parts.
● Develop BOMs (Bill of Materials) and technical documentation for fabrication.
● Work with suppliers and machine shops to oversee fabrication, assembly, and testing of jigs, fixtures, and molds.
● Troubleshoot and implement design improvements based on production feedback.
● Stay updated with latest materials, tooling techniques, and CAD/CAE advancements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
● Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX, or similar).
● Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and engineering drawings per ISO/ASME standards.
● Familiarity with FEA or simulation tools for stress, deflection, and fit validation is a plus.
● Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
● Hands-on experience with prototype assembly and testing preferred.
