Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled VB + SQL Developer with 4–6 years of experience to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Visual Basic (VB/VB.NET) and SQL, and will work closely with business and technical teams to develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications. This role requires overlap with US business hours and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Visual Basic (VB/VB.NET)
Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application and database-related issues
Perform performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and database objects
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and US-based stakeholders
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
Provide production support, bug fixes, and minor enhancements as needed
Create and maintain technical documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
4–6 years of strong hands-on experience in Visual Basic (VB or VB.NET)
Strong expertise in SQL (complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures)
Experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
Solid understanding of application development life cycle (SDLC)
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Experience working in a client-facing or US-shift environment
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Good to Have (Optional)
Experience with legacy application modernization
Exposure to .NET framework
Knowledge of reporting tools or data integration
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
