Role Overview
The Legal Advisor & Compliance Officer will be responsible for end-to-end contract management, legal advisory support, and compliance oversight across the group.
This role requires a hands-on legal professional with strong commercial and contract law experience, capable of delivering accurate, high-quality legal work while maintaining strict governance and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Risk Management
Provide high-quality legal advice to executive management and operational teams
Identify and communicate emerging legal risks and regulatory developments
Manage disputes and coordinate legal remedies where required
Liaise with external legal counsel and prepare legal briefs when specialist advice is required
Contract Drafting & Legal Documentation
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and agreements
Ensure contracts are legally compliant and aligned with organisational objectives
Maintain and oversee the organisation’s contract register and contract management processes
Legal Advisory & Contract Management
Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial contracts including:
Employment contracts
Property / lease agreements
Service level agreements (SLAs)
Supplier and vendor agreements
Maintain and manage the contract register and lifecycle (drafting, execution, renewal, termination)
Provide legal input on commercial transactions and business agreements
Ensure contracts are aligned with legal, regulatory, and business requirements
Compliance & Governance
Support the implementation and monitoring of legal and regulatory compliance frameworks
Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and internal policies
Assist with risk identification, mitigation, and compliance reporting
Maintain compliance registers and track regulatory obligations
Assist with internal policy drafting, review, and updates
Legal Risk & Advisory Support
Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks across the group
Provide practical legal advice to business stakeholders
Support dispute resolution and liaise with external legal counsel where required
Assist with due diligence processes and legal documentation reviews
Executive & Business Support
Provide direct legal support to the CEO and senior management team
Assist with strategic legal matters and business initiatives
Ensure all legal documentation and processes are accurate, compliant, and audit-ready.
Company Secretarial Support
The required candidate will be responsible for many of the complex company secretarial functions, some of the functions will include:
Primarily Diligent Entities
Managing the Statutory Calendar
Compliance with the Companies Act
Compliance with King IV
Minutes and Resolutions on Diligence software
Minimum Requirements
LLB degree and Admitted Attorney (non-negotiable)
6 -7 years post-articles experience
Experience in commercial law / contract law (essential)
Exposure to compliance, corporate governance or regulatory environments
Strong experience in contract drafting and legal documentation
