Job Description:

Our client, a prominent copper and gold producer in Asia, is seeking an experienced Technical Advisor to join their team. Reporting directly to the Processing Superintendent (Copper), you will work closely with the local operations team to ensure the solvent‐extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW) plant runs efficiently, safely, and to design specifications. You will provide hands‐on technical support, train local operators, and help optimize daily operations.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and enhance the SX/EW circuit to improve copper recovery rates and ensure consistent cathode quality, while managing daily plant operations to maintain performance in line with design specifications.
• Liaise closely with the Maintenance team to ensure all scheduled maintenance activities are completed effectively and on time.
• Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to local operators and technical personnel, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and SX/EW best practices.
• Develop comprehensive training materials, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and visual troubleshooting resources tailored specifically to the SX/EW process.
• Diagnose and address operational challenges within the SX/EW circuit, including issues related to equipment, reagents, instrumentation, and process control parameters.
• Uphold strict safety, health, and environmental standards within the SX/EW area, with particular emphasis on hazardous area access control and specialized fire prevention and protection measures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and plant expansion initiatives, including equipment commissioning, system upgrades, and optimization of operating conditions.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in copper leaching and SX/EW plant operations. Must be able to read and interpret P&IDs and flow diagrams, with a strong track record of maintaining or improving plant performance.
• In-depth knowledge of solvent extraction chemistry and electrowinning principles. Familiarity with SX reagents (organics and diluents), electrolyte chemistry, and electrowinning equipment is essential.
• Experience with process control systems, analytical laboratory procedures, and performing mass balances will be advantageous.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety standards.
• Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required for reporting, training, and liaising with international teams.
