Operations Manager (Mining / Operations / Open-Pit / Production) – Morocco Reference Number: AR020
Job Description: One of our longstanding clients is currently in search for a hands-on Operations Manager with strong Open Pit (OP) experience to lead and optimize mining operations. The focus of this role is strictly on open pit mining performance, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and overall pit optimization within a producing environment.
Responsibilities: • Lead and manage all open pit mining operations (drill & blast, load & haul) • Drive production targets, productivity, and cost optimization • Ensure best practices in pit design execution, slope stability, and safety • Oversee contractors and/or owner mining teams • Implement and monitor operational KPIs (fleet utilization, cycle times, production rates) • Optimize equipment performance and availability • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and environmental requirements • Work closely with geology and planning teams to ensure efficient ore extraction and grade control • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
• Degree in Mining Engineering or similar • Minimum 8-12 years’ experience in open pit mining operations • Proven track record managing large-scale OP operations • Strong experience in drill & blast, load & haul optimization • Experience with mining contractors and/or owner-operator models • Solid understanding of production planning and execution • Strong leadership and team management capability • Experience in Africa / remote site operations preferred • French speaking is mandatory
