Reporting to the E&I Supervisor, the E&I Planner is generally accountable for supporting the maintenance works by receiving, planning, estimating, and coordinating maintenance work orders. The position of the E&I Planner is accountable for planning and ensuring the readiness of routine work orders.
Specific Accountabilities:
JD Edwards software application in daily maintenance planning activities such as: inventory recommendation for critical plant equipment; tracking of purchase orders to determine status of payment, creating work packages, generating in-house estimates with respect to budget and schedules.
Executes the departmental/plant procurement activities ensuring that the procurement process is complete, transparent and in accordance with good governance and procurement/tendering policies and procedures.
Completes all documentation so that vendors are paid in accordance with contractual agreements and the Materials Policy.
Receives all work orders from the supervisor. Exception is emergency work which is given directly to the Supervisor for immediate attention.
Reviews Work Orders to ensure completeness e.g. work scope, approvals and realistic priorities. Consults with subject matter experts in the event that specialized advice is required. Receives necessary approvals for the work.
Plans all maintenance Work Orders by analyzing basic job steps, determining their relative sequence and identifying parts, materials, special tools, skills and personnel requirements for each step. Obtains blueprints and drawings as needed.
Estimates total cost of each Work Order in terms of required direct labour and material.
Requests that Materials verify the availability of parts, materials and special tools, once the job is planned and estimated but prior to scheduling.
Maintains backlog files or Work Orders awaiting scheduling in accordance with priority limits. Reviews weekly backlog report.
Participates in the process of identifying and selecting appropriate safety precautions, instructions and required protective gear.
Directs Materials in requisitioning all predetermined parts, materials and special tools.
Develops work procedures, scope of works and tender documents for routine jobs.
Interaction with vendor representatives to attain effective repair/upgrade methods to all plant equipment.
Performs all activities with emphasis on Health, Safety and the Environment inclusive of JSA and HAZOP.
Reports on planning progress in meetings.
