Lead Mechanical Engineer – Refinery Maintenance (Suriname)

We're seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to support refinery maintenance operations in Suriname. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to the Reliability & Maintenance Engineering team, ensuring the reliability, performance, and integrity of rotating equipment while mentoring engineers, driving continuous improvement, and supporting critical maintenance and engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Mechanical Engineering and Predictive Maintenance teams.
• Manage the reliability, maintenance, and performance of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, and related assets.
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Develop maintenance strategies, engineering solutions, and equipment upgrade recommendations.
• Oversee predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs, including vibration analysis and asset integrity initiatives.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, and Projects to optimize plant reliability and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years' experience in rotating equipment engineering within the oil & gas, refinery, or heavy industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, and CMMS platforms (SAP PM, Maximo, or similar).
• Experience with API, ASME, and other relevant industry standards.
• Professional certifications in vibration analysis, lubrication, or reliability engineering (e.g., ISO CAT III, CMRP) are an asset.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, communication, and team development skills.

Location

This position is based in Suriname. Successful candidates must be willing to relocate to Suriname for the duration of the assignment. Relocation assistance, travel arrangements, and accommodation will be provided in accordance with company policy.
