Head – Exploration, Geology & Mine Planning

Purpose of the Role

The Head of Exploration is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and modeling of geological resources, as well as mine planning, in order to optimize resource utilization and ensure profitability and sustainability of mining operations, in compliance with current regulations in Cameroon.

Key Responsibilities

Geological Exploration

• Plan and supervise geological exploration campaigns
• Conduct geological and geotechnical studies of deposits
• Identify exploitable zones and evaluate mineral reserves
• Supervise prospecting, drilling, and geological mapping activities

Resource Analysis and Modeling

• Interpret geological and geophysical data
• Develop geological models and reserve estimates
• Analyze material quality and characteristics
• Prepare technical reports on available resources

Mine Planning

• Develop quarry or mine operation plans
• Define extraction methods and mining sequences
• Optimize mineral resource management
• Contribute to production planning

Data Management and Technical Tools

• Use mining modeling and planning software
• Manage geological databases
• Ensure proper archiving and traceability of exploration data

Team Management

• Supervise geologists, geological technicians, and field teams
• Plan exploration team activities
• Ensure knowledge transfer and staff training

Regulatory and Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Cameroonian mining and environmental regulations
• Participate in environmental impact studies
• Ensure exploration activities meet legal requirements

Reporting and Strategic Management

• Prepare technical and strategic reports for management
• Participate in investment and deposit development decisions
• Contribute to mining resource development strategy

Education

Minimum Bachelor’s +5 (Master’s degree or equivalent) in:

• Geology
• Mining Engineering
• Geosciences
• Applied Geology

Experience

• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in mining exploration or quarry operations
• Experience in deposit evaluation and mine planning

Mandatory Certifications

• Certification/training in geological modeling and mine planning
• Certification in geostatistics or mineral resource estimation
• ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
• ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
• ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety)

Mining Software Certifications

Proficiency in specialized software is required:

• Vulcan
• AutoCAD / GIS

Technical & Professional Skills
