Mining Manager

Job Purpose

The Quarry Manager plans, organizes, and supervises all quarry operations to ensure the production of aggregates in line with production targets, quality standards, safety, environmental requirements, and applicable regulations in Cameroon.

The position reports directly to the Quarry Head and operates within approved production, safety, and environmental plans. It does not include overall site responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

• Plan quarry operations (drilling, blasting, extraction, crushing, and screening)
• Set daily, weekly, and monthly production targets
• Supervise extraction and material processing operations
• Optimize equipment and crushing plant performance
• Ensure availability of raw materials for production

Equipment Management

• Oversee the use of machinery (excavators, loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, crushers)
• Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment
• Work closely with the maintenance team to minimize downtime

Team Management

• Supervise production teams (machine operators, drillers, crusher operators, laborers)
• Organize work schedules
• Ensure discipline and adherence to work procedures
• Participate in recruitment and staff evaluation

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations
• Implement HSE procedures (Health, Safety, Environment)
• Ensure compliance with mining and environmental regulations in Cameroon
• Prevent workplace accidents and risks related to explosives

Quality Control

• Ensure produced aggregates meet specifications (grading, quality)
• Monitor crushing and screening processes
• Collaborate with the quality control laboratory

Administration & Reporting

• Prepare daily and monthly production reports
• Monitor quarry operating costs
• Track aggregate stock levels
• Report progress and activities to management

Education

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or Public Works, or
• Bachelor’s/Master’s (Bac+3 / Bac+5) in Mining Operations or Industrial Engineering

Experience

• 5 to 10 years of experience in quarry or mining operations
• Experience in aggregates or construction materials production

Required Certifications

• Industrial Risk Management training
• ISO 9001 certification (Quality Management)
• ISO 14001 certification (Environmental Management)
• ISO 45001 certification (Occupational Health & Safety)

Technical & Professional Skills

• Strong knowledge of quarry operations techniques
• Familiarity with crushing and screening equipment
• Good understanding of mining and environmental regulations
• Team and project management skills
• Proficiency in IT tools and reporting systems
