JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Junior Logistics Officer
Location: Douala, Cameroon
Contract Type: Fixed-term contract (renewable)
Salary: 150,000 – 200,000 FCFA (depending on profile)
Mission
The Junior Logistics Officer is responsible for executing day-to-day logistics, warehousing, and distribution activities. Under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, he/she ensures the timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods, while maintaining inventory accuracy and compliance with safety requirements. This position is designed for a motivated, rigorous candidate seeking long-term growth within the company.
Main Activities
- Coordinate the receipt of raw materials; verify delivery documentation; inspect shipments for quantity and quality; update receiving records.
- Maintain accurate stock records; participate in regular cycle counts and full stocktakes; report and assist in resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare shipping documentation for deliveries to customers and distributors; ensure timely dispatch.
- Manage relationships with carriers; track shipments through to delivery.
- Participate in warehouse layout, storage practices, and material handling; enforce housekeeping, safety, and security standards.
- Prepare and manage import/export documentation under the supervision of the manager.
- Produce daily/weekly logistics reports; monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and lead times.
- Identify process inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
- Work closely with Procurement, Production, Quality, Sales, and Finance departments to align logistics activities with business needs.
Candidate Profile
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree (BAC+3) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, or a related field.
- A Master's degree is an advantage.
Experience:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role (logistics, warehousing, or supply chain).
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of logistics processes, inventory management, and transportation systems.
- Basic knowledge of Cameroonian customs procedures and import/export documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of logistics software (SAP, Oracle ERP, or TMS) is an advantage.
