This position is responsible for the value stream engineering developments for Nitinol processing from incoming material through the drawing process to the finished product. Lead manufacturing engineering initiatives towards alignment and achievement of metrics and objectives. Work on designing and building fixtures to shape set Nitinol components in collaboration with MDC’s customers’ development teams. Across these product lines there will be a major emphasis on applying lean manufacturing techniques and process improvements to increase throughput and quality while ensuring employee safety.

Supports the Engineering Manager in driving initiatives to meet KPI targets.

Leads engineering projects focused on safety, productivity, quality, and cost savings.

Promotes and drives change as part of growth and development.

Develops robust solutions to prevent defects and provides data analytics for process monitoring and diagnostics.

Drives continuous improvement and supports Lean Manufacturing initiatives for the Nitinol Value Stream.

Collaborates with Maintenance to resolve equipment and process design flaws permanently.

Interfaces regularly with Engineering Manager and team to ensure clear and concise communication.

Leads Nitinol Value Streams from manufacturing feasibility assessment to process validation and early development production.

Reviews customer medical component designs to provide feedback on manufacturing feasibility, cost-saving options, and supports Sales with quotes.

Prepares capital or process change justifications to support proposed improvements.

Manages and/or participates in the implementation of new equipment and processes, including FAT/SAT, on-site validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), staff training, and process documentation.

Develops strong process controls using engineering tools (PFMEA, Control Plan) for new part qualification and standard process analysis.

Coordinates and participates in problem-solving/improvement projects related to the Nitinol Value Stream.

Works closely with EHS to ensure accurate Process and Equipment Risk Assessments are in place and risks are managed.

Works with external vendors to identify cost-effective process optimization solutions.

Maintains knowledge of new technologies to improve operations and makes recommendations accordingly.
