Aspen Aerogels is a rapidly growing aerogel technology company founded in 2001 to capitalize on patented advances in aerogel manufacturing. Liaison Engineer is responsible for establishing a positive working relationship with strategic customers to drive quality improvements. The Engineer shall represent the Voice of the Customer related to quality issues.
This position will help Aspen with on-site support to give a fast response to the customer and assist on follow up of any issue related to Aspen products.

Train customer engineering and inspectors on acceptable vs non-acceptable aerogel defects (Workmanship Manual-QID) and detection methods, work with both facilities to ensure 100% implementation, execution & processes Improvements.

Daily review of material rejection areas (Quality cages, NOK Bins, Containment Areas, etc.).

On-site investigation of non-conforming material and customer complaints. We expect the representative to review the issue on site with the customer within the 2 hours of the occurrence during the shifts.

Communicate to Aspen the issue within the same timeframe.

Initiate 8D Form and where required and complete data input from voice of customer.

Lead 8D investigation activities for damage occurring to product in transit or inspection process.

Daily walk-through process audits (material handling, scanning, assembly & testing)

Review with operators, leaders if there is any issue with or around Aerogel product

Review with operators, leaders, and engineers if there is any issue with or around Aerogel inspection.

Address customer concerns before they become quality issues.

If something is found, review to confirm if material is true non-conforming, or if this issue can be solved on-site.

Work with Customer to determine next steps: Pull out, destructive test etc., and document and track all the investigation process updates.

Use provided DHL/FedEx account and select “Priority” or “Next Day” delivery term, to ensure parts for the investigation are send on time to the Aspen Manufacturing location.

Start Containment activities in customer facilities, stablish a containment method and ensure the proper communication with the aspen facility to start containment in the manufacturing site.

Negotiate with customer for claims and charges.

Monitor, negotiate and coordinate scrap claims and their disposition.

Provide inventory information at customer facility as requested.

Support when is required PPAP or special runs.

Provide an Activity Report. Daily and weekly summary

Provide to the customer, a list of 24/7 Contacts for any eventuality reported during normal, night or extra shifts

Update failure matrix with the customer reports and share with Aspen QE and QM on a weekly basis to ensure proper analysis and improvement plan.

Work with customer engineering to perform inspection Gage R&R’s and update inspection method and documentation as required.
