Job Position: Head of IS Maintenance- For Glass Container

Job Location: Bahadurgarh

Reports To: Manager – Production

Experience: 

• 12–15+ years of experience in the container glass industry
• Extensive hands-on experience with IS forming machines and related equipment
• Minimum 5+ years in a maintenance leadership role in a glass manufacturing environment

Educational Qualifications: 

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Job Purpose:

The IS Maintenance Department Manager is responsible for ensuring high availability, reliability, and optimal performance of IS forming machines and associated equipment in a container glass manufacturing facility. The role focuses on execution of job change activities, preventive and breakdown maintenance, technical upgrades, safety, and continuous improvement to support stable production of glass bottles for alcoholic beverage and food packaging.

Key Responsibilities

IS Machine Maintenance & Reliability

• Ensure maximum uptime and performance of IS machines (feeder to lehr loader) .
• Plan and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for chronic equipment failures.

Technical & Engineering Support

• Support production teams during machine setup, job changeovers, and process stabilization.
• Drive technical improvements to enhance forming efficiency, machine speed, and product quality.
• Lead installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new IS machines and auxiliary systems.

Spares & Asset Management

• Manage critical spare parts inventory to ensure availability and cost control.
• Standardize spares, components, and maintenance practices across IS machines.
• Maintain accurate equipment history, maintenance records, and asset documentation.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure safe maintenance practices and strict adherence to safety and statutory requirements.
• Support compliance with food safety and quality standards applicable to glass packaging for food and alcoholic beverages.
• Participate in audits, inspections, and incident investigations related to equipment and maintenance.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, and develop maintenance engineers, technicians, and fitters.
• Define roles, shift coverage, and skill development plans for the IS maintenance team.
• Foster a proactive maintenance culture with strong ownership and accountability.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

• Implement TPM, Lean Maintenance, and reliability engineering practices.
• Drive reduction in maintenance costs, spare consumption, and emergency breakdowns.

• Analyze maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, downtime, and equipment availability.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical knowledge of IS machines, gob feeders, forming mechanisms, and hot end ware handling systems
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanicaln & pneumatic issues
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Knowledge of TPM, reliability engineering, and maintenance best practices

• Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills
