Project Superintendent (Mining / Construction / Civil / TSF / Earthworks) – West Africa

Job Description:

Our client, a mining project in West Africa, is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with a strong civil construction background to oversee and manage on-site construction activities. The successful candidate will take responsibility for supervising multiple civil-related work fronts and ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards. This role requires hands-on leadership across earthworks, structures, infrastructure, and facilities construction within a mining environment.

Responsibilities:

• Take overall responsibility for the construction delivery of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF), ensuring compliance with design, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Supervise and coordinate civil works, including concrete structures, foundations, drainage systems, and site infrastructure.
• Manage and oversee bulk earthworks, including cut-and-fill operations, embankments, and platform preparations.
• Oversee the construction and rehabilitation of mine access roads and internal roadworks, ensuring durability and compliance with specifications.
• Supervise piping installation works, including alignment, support structures, and quality control of installations.
• Manage and coordinate camp renovation and refurbishment projects, ensuring minimal disruption and timely completion.
• Lead and supervise Supervisors, Foremen, subcontractors, and site-based teams across multiple work fronts.
• Ensure strict compliance with site HSE standards, conducting regular inspections and enforcing safe work practices.
• Monitor construction progress, manage look-ahead planning, and report on performance, risks, and delays to senior site management.
• Ensure construction quality through inspections, adherence to drawings, and proper documentation for handover.

Qualification and Skill:

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related discipline.
• Proven background in civil construction within mining or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience delivering TSF construction, earthworks, roadworks, civil structures, piping, and camp or facilities projects.
• Strong supervisory and leadership experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
• Solid understanding of construction quality control, safety management, and schedule-driven project execution.
• Ability to work effectively in remote, site-based mining environments.
