Exploration Geologist (Exploration Projects / Greenfields / Drill core processing) – Angola

Job Description:

Our client, a global mining company, is seeking a Discovery Geologist to support district-scale exploration programs in Angola targeting sediment-hosted copper and magmatic nickel deposits. The successful candidate will assist with the safe and efficient execution of field exploration activities, including geological mapping, drill core logging, sampling and data collection in remote field environments. This role is suited to an early-career geologist with strong technical foundations in hard rock geology and a willingness to work in operational field conditions within a high-performance exploration team.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with geological mapping, drill core logging, sampling and geochemical field programs
• Support drill core processing workflows including mark-up, cutting, sampling, packaging and dispatch
• Collect, quality control and capture geological, geochemical and operational data into approved systems
• Conduct field-based data collection including pXRF, photography, spectral and related measurements
• Maintain accurate QA/QC records, databases and daily operational reporting
• Coordinate field activities with contractors, technicians and service providers to support exploration programs
• Support environmental, social and stakeholder engagement requirements in the field
• Promote safe work practices and participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks and field safety activities

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Degree in Geosciences or related field essential
• Postgraduate qualification in Geology or Exploration Geoscience advantageous
• Academic focus in hard rock geology with practical fieldwork exposure required
• Previous exploration exposure through vacation work, internships or industry experience advantageous
• Experience with geological software such as Leapfrog and ArPro beneficial
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years driving experience required
• Fluency in English and Portuguese essential
• Ability to work on remote exploration sites and rotational field schedules required
