Under minimal supervision, the Field Service Engineer provides technical and customer support for a wide range of installed systems, from basic to highly complex. This role supports existing customers by responding to service calls and emails, performing onsite troubleshooting, and ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service. The role includes systems checkout, repairs, and diagnostics related to installed Motion Control and Automation Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond to customer service requests, scheduled maintenance, and emergency/after-hours support via phone, email, or onsite visits

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of motion control and automation systems

Replace defective parts and perform debugging for complex technical issues

Complete all service tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction

Maintain detailed and timely service reports to support billing and job tracking

Adhere to all applicable safety regulations and company policies

Remain current on products, solutions, and service offerings

Travel up to 70%; some overnight travel is required

Maintain a professional image during all interactions

Promote services and support offerings where appropriate

Collaborate with internal teams to drive continuous improvement

Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of field and remote service experience with automation products and industrial applications
• Valid driver’s license required
• Advanced technical expertise in motion control systems
• Advanced programming skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot and develop effective solutions
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Familiarity with IEC 61131 programming languages
• Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: electronics, electric motors, PLCs, automation controls
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., use of hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, crimpers, multimeters, computers, etc.)
• Exceptional customer focus with the ability to perform under pressure
• Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate and address customer needs independently

Self-starter who thrives with minimal supervision

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple service needs simultaneously
• Highly proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
