Solar Project Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Solar Project Engineer with strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in utility-scale solar projects. Based in Delray, Florida, the ideal candidate will play a key role in the technical review, design validation, and support of large-scale solar PV projects throughout their lifecycle — from due diligence through to commissioning and operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review multi-disciplinary engineering drawing packages (Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Communications).
• Analyze technical documentation during project due diligence and construction phases.
• Validate engineering calculations and conduct risk/value engineering assessments.
• Evaluate, optimize, and enhance solar PV system designs.
• Collaborate with third-party engineering firms to align deliverables with project requirements.
• Review and assess energy modeling reports (e.g., PVSyst), identifying discrepancies and areas for optimization.
• Respond to technical RFIs and evaluate proposed Change Orders.
• Coordinate with key equipment vendors to verify technical specifications and performance data.
• Support site commissioning activities to ensure system compliance and functionality.
• Promote quality construction standards and best practices during project execution.
• Capture technical learnings across Development, Design, and Asset Management to improve internal engineering practices.
• Maintain relationships with critical suppliers and evaluate new technologies and product innovations.
• Assist the Project Management Office (PMO) in refining and documenting technical workflows and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in solar engineering, with a strong preference for utility-scale project exposure.
• Proficient in engineering and solar design tools: AutoCAD, PVsyst, Plant Predict, Helioscope, as well as Excel, Word, and Smartsheet.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
