Product Safety Manager Location: Hybrid (Burlingame & Redwood City, CA – Mon–Wed in-office)

Key Responsibilities This is a hands-on individual contributor role with strategic influence.
You’ll work closely with third-party labs, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure global regulatory compliance and drive a proactive safety culture. - Own product safety across design, manufacturing, field returns, and escalations - Ensure compliance with UL, CE, IEC and other global safety standards - Lead risk assessments (FMEA, Fault Tree), testing protocols, and root cause investigations - Analyse safety data and field feedback to drive continuous improvement - Manage documentation, certifications, and labelling per UL 588 / IEC 60598 - Provide safety guidance to cross-functional teams and train partners on protocols Compensation & Benefits - Annual bonus plan - 100% employer-paid health cover (team members) - Parental leave, sabbatical after 10 years - 401(k) match, wellness perks, learning budget, merchandise discount Diversity & Inclusion We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and ensure equal opportunities at every stage. We are seeking a Product Safety Manager to lead end-to-end safety efforts across the lifecycle of new licensed products – from development through production, field returns, and consumer escalations. The role focuses on compliance oversight, risk mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration, embedding safety into every stage of the product journey.
Qualifications
Requirements - BSc in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred) - 8+ years’ experience in product safety for electrical/consumer products - Deep knowledge of global safety standards and testing methodologies - Proficient in risk assessment tools and regulatory compliance - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills - AI literacy and ability to work with evolving technologies - Willing to travel internationally (up to 25%) Preferred: Experience in consumer electronics, lab testing, and statistical safety analysis
