Head of Ophthalmology – Pediatric Facility Farmington
A leading pediatric healthcare organization in Connecticut is seeking a Board-Certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist to serve as Head of Ophthalmology. This is a unique leadership opportunity for an experienced physician who is passionate about clinical excellence, academic growth, and strategic program development within a collaborative pediatric environment.
The Head of Ophthalmology will provide clinical, administrative, and educational leadership for a growing pediatric ophthalmology department. The role includes oversight of day-to-day operations, development of strategic initiatives, and mentorship of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Ophthalmology Department
Oversee daily clinical operations, staffing, and workflow optimization
Lead and mentor physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, and APPs
Balance clinical care with administrative and academic responsibilities
Support educational programming, teaching, and professional development
Drive quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and program growth
Collaborate with executive leadership on departmental planning and expansion
Board Certified Pediatric Ophthalmologist (required)
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in a clinical or academic setting
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to pediatric patient care, education, and innovation
Strong organizational, communication, and strategic planning skills
Leadership role within a growing pediatric ophthalmology program
Combination of administrative, clinical, and educational responsibilities
