LEAD ENGINEER

JOB TITLE: LEAD ENGINEER

DEPARTMENT: ENGINEERING

REPORT TO: MANAGING DIRECTOR

JOB PURPOSE:

The Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership, project coordination, and engineering oversight across all projects. This role ensures high technical quality, operational excellence, and effective engineering delivery while serving as the main technical liaison between management, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires the demonstration of strong problem-solving capabilities, technical mentorship, project leadership, assertiveness, adaptability, and the ability to interface effectively with clients and partners. The role is critical to maintaining technical excellence and supporting the Company’s strategic growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Technical Leadership & Engineering Oversight

• Lead engineering design reviews, technical documentation, and quality assurance processes.
• Provide high-level technical guidance across mechanical, process, electrical, and civil interfaces.
• Ensure engineering outputs comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Mentor engineers and technicians, developing internal capability and technical competence.

2. Project Planning & Coordination

• Oversee end-to-end project execution for tank farms, refineries, FPSO scopes, and energy infrastructure projects.
• Develop project schedules, resource plans, and technical execution strategies.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, models, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate with procurement, HSE, operations, and business development teams.

3. Client & Partner Interface

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact with clients, regulators, and international partners.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and solution reports.
• Participate in site meetings, surveys, inspections, and stakeholder engagements.

4. Business Development Technical Support

• Support bid development with technical write-ups, cost inputs, engineering scope breakdowns, and execution methodology.
• Engage with partners (EM&I, MANNTEK, PARLYM, DEC, ELAFLEX, DICKERMAN, MARIFLEX, HOERBIGER, HCP and TRIBOLOGIK LABORATORIES) on technical scopes.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Technical Competencies

• Strong proficiency in mechanical/process engineering
• Excellent understanding of oil & gas design codes (API, ASME, NFPA, ISO)
• High competence in AutoCAD, process simulation tools, and project management software
• Expertise in facility design, construction supervision, and commissioning
• Understanding of asset integrity, FPSO operations, and tank farm design

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BSc in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering
• 7+ years of engineering experience in upstream/downstream oil & gas
