Job Description:
Our client, an international mining company based in Western Africa, is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to oversee their procurement and warehousing aspects. They will be responsible for all activities related to logistics, inventory planning and control. They will lead the Supply Chain team and direct the purchase, storage and distribution of all materials and associated payments in a manner that ensures the timely provision of materials of the right quality.
Responsibilities:
The development, implementation and management of procurement and supply chain strategies and governance systems for our client in line with group procurement policies and activities.
Oversee all aspects of the supply chain including forecasting, materials planning, procurement of inventory, warehousing, and related logistics.
Implement and monitor KPI’s to ensure to prevent/reduce out of stock situations and effectively monitor the iron ore supply chain.
Provide and support, leadership guidance and expertise to ensure all approved supply chain projects are successful from inception to completion, with the knowledge imparted to staff ensuring a sustainable process.
Ensure that supply staff adhere to safety and environmental standards that meet industry standards.
Manage supply and logistics performance improvement projects from inception through.
Responsible for identifying and analyzing business opportunities, developing recommendations using high level quantitative and qualitative analytical skill and communicating findings to senior management.
Be accountable for supply project deliverables, develop and deliver recommendations to management, create, and meet all project milestones and financial commitments.
Develop project schedules, deliverable, and detailed timelines, as well as identify and manage project priorities.
Identify, document, and implement best practices as part of the ongoing improvement process.
Ensure completion of appropriate project documentation and alignment with supply strategy.
Exercise judgment and initiative to identify and resolve complex project and resource management issues.
Assist to develop, install, and audit policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company requirements
Identify opportunities to improve ERP system processes (Develop or enhance supply chain metrics, KPIs and dashboards).
Work with and support existing local suppliers to development their performance and business opportunity.
Fully engage national supply chain staff in project development and implementation ensuring effective knowledge and skills transfer.
Work with the supply manager to conduct regular review of the department’s risk register.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
Minimum 10 years’ experience within a supply chain management role - preferably in a mining environment.
Relevant tertiary qualification.
Warehouse management experience desirable.
Remote mining experience desirable.
Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications.
