Engineering Manager (Mining / Earthmoving Machinery / Open Pit / GCC ) – South Africa

Job Description:

Our client, a South-African based mining service provider is seeking an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations on site, within their area of responsibility. Operationally, the Engineering Manager must assist the Snr. Earthmoving Plant Manager to ensure all relevant engineering services (maintenance standards and availability of Earthmoving machinery and equipment, etc.) are maintained and delivered to the highest possible standard, timeously and within budget. Furthermore, this position is a Regulation 2.13.1 Appointment in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act no 29 of 1996).

Responsibilities:

• Safe Earthmoving Plant Performance
• Monitor Earthmoving equipment reliability daily
• Maintain fleet availability of 85%
• Analyse and minimise all Earthmoving equipment fleet downtime and address with high sense of urgency
• Daily job planning in collaboration with the Senior Plant Manager and his team
• Liaise with the Client Engineering Manager on issues related to Equipment specifications and relevant SOP’s
• Manage and deliver Earthmoving Plant Administration function
• Stores and Stock quality Control
• Plant HR function specifically aimed at safe working methods and procedures
• Monitor and collaborate all feedback on machine issues including operator feedback and concerns
• Total quality assurance of Plant maintenance function
• Ensure compliance with Safety & Quality policies, procedures and standards
• Manage and execute Projects and CI
• Business Performance CI and the effective implementation of changes or new strategies to the business unit
• Compliance, Governance and Assurance within area of responsibility
• Financial Management and related assistance to the Senior Plant Manager and his team
• Consulting and Project Services
• Develop and retain competent Staff and Improved Performance monitoring
• Establish Safe and Healthy work environment

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• 10 to 15 years’ related experience within in the Open cast Mining industry, of which at least 5 years must be at management level
• Mechanical Engineering Degree/ Diploma
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC)
• Must have excellent knowledge and experience managing a large fleet of Heavy Earthmoving Equipment
  • (CAT 777 D, 789 and Komatsu 785 Dump Trucks, Terex 200 & Komatsu PC3000 Excavators, CAT Graders and Track Dozers).
