Specialist Mining Studies (Mining / Resources / Planning / Development / Compliance / Feasibility) – Gauteng

Job Description:

Our client, a major mining operation, is seeking a Specialist in Mining Studies to support and advance various mining study projects from Concept through to Feasibility. The successful candidate will play a key role in integrating mining studies with geoscience field programs and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards. This role requires strong expertise in mine planning, feasibility assessments, financial modelling, as well as the ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive optimal project decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and support mining studies from Concept through Feasibility across different commodities and jurisdictions.
• Ensure alignment between mining studies and geoscience field programs, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and guidelines.
• Identify and analyse key drivers in the resource extraction value chain to support business case development.
• Conduct techno-economic analyses to guide strategic decision-making on mining projects.
• Evaluate and propose alternative approaches to resource extraction, technology application and project structuring.
• Assist in developing mine operating and capital cost models
• Implement and support a high-performance culture aligned with company values, promoting diversity, inclusion and continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in mine planning and feasibility studies.
• Strong knowledge of mining study methodologies, including resource evaluations, financial analysis and feasibility studies.
• Proficiency in mine design and planning software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and statistical analysis.
• Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license.
• Registration with recognized industry bodies (AUSIMM, SAIMM, ECSA, SACNASP) is desirable.
• Ability to travel as required.
