Senior Civil Engineer – Non Process Infrastructure (Owner’s Team / Civil Engineering / Mining Infrastructure / EPC / EPCM) – Namibia

Job Description:

Our client, a major mining project in Namibia, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join the Owner’s Team. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership, oversight and assurance across all civil engineering activities throughout the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the project. The Senior Civil Engineer will represent the Owner’s interests and ensure that civil engineering designs, specifications, procurement packages, construction activities and completed infrastructure meet the project’s technical and operational requirements. The role will work closely with EPC/EPCM contractors, engineering consultants, construction contractors, procurement, project controls, HSE, quality, operations and other multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and Owner’s oversight of all civil engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve civil engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations and technical deliverables.
• Oversee civil works including bulk earthworks, foundations, concrete, roads, drainage, water management and infrastructure.
• Manage civil engineering interfaces with structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, process, mining and other disciplines.
• Support procurement through development and review of civil scopes, technical specifications, tenders and contractor submissions.
• Monitor construction activities, contractor performance, quality, progress and compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Identify and manage civil engineering risks relating to geotechnical conditions, construction, cost, schedule, quality and contractor performance.
• Support commissioning, handover, close-out and resolution of outstanding civil engineering issues.

Qualification and Skill:

• Civil Engineering degree from a recognised university or tertiary institution.
• Professional registration, or eligibility for registration, with a recognised engineering professional body; Namibian recognition advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years’ relevant civil engineering experience, preferably within mining, minerals processing or major industrial capital projects.
• Proven senior-level experience within an Owner’s Team, EPC, EPCM, engineering consultancy or major construction environment.
• Experience across the full project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong experience with bulk earthworks, concrete works, foundations, roads, drainage, water management and mining infrastructure.
• Experience managing engineering consultants, EPC/EPCM contractors and construction contractors, with strong knowledge of project controls, variations and claims.
