About the Client and Purpose of Role:

The Client is a well-established, export-focused mineral processing business based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The operation specializes in the beneficiation and processing of chrome and manganese products for international markets, supplying customers across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The business operates a modern processing facility with a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and operational excellence.

As part of its continued growth and commitment to operational excellence, the Client is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead all aspects of production, procurement, logistics, and factory operations while driving efficiency, safety, and commercial performance across the business.

Responsibilities:

• Factory Production
  • Drying chrome and manganese
  • Bagging and stacking of containers for chrome and manganese
  • Milling chrome and manganese into oxide products
  • Mixing ladle sand
  • Scheduling and executing shipments

• Procurement
  • Buying raw materials
  • Buying consumables

• Factory Administration
  • Factory HR
  • Health and safety
  • Production scheduling
  • Shipment planning
  • Stock management

• Potential Commercial Responsibilities:
  • Subject to business requirements, the scope of the role may be expanded to include selected commercial and business development activities, including:
    • Management of external sales agents and sales channels.
    • Support for local product and service sales within South Africa.
    • Identification and development of new market opportunities across Africa.
    • Contribution to customer relationship management and commercial growth initiatives.

Requirements:

• Experience in chrome processing
• At least 10 years of relevant senior-level production management
• Advantageous:
  • Commercial ability to take on plant sales: managing external agents, South African service sales and developing African product sales

Contractual Information:

• Permanent
• Willing and able to relocate to Johannesburg, South Africa for the opportunity.
