Job Description:

Our client, a leading African logistics and shipping organisation, is seeking an Assistant Logistics Manager to support its country operations within West Africa. Working closely with the Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in the coordination and optimisation of freight forwarding, shipping, customs clearance, and supply chain activities. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a developing logistics leader to gain exposure to multi-functional logistics operations while contributing to operational efficiency, customer service excellence, and business growth.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily freight forwarding and customs activities.
• Support shipment movements and port operations.
• Supervise logistics personnel and contractors.
• Provide customer support and shipment updates.
• Prepare operational reports and performance tracking documents.
• Manage shipping documentation and customs requirements.
• Support cost management and process improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and regulations.
• Liaise with logistics providers and operational stakeholders.
• Maintain service delivery standards.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 3–7 years' experience in logistics, freight forwarding, customs clearing or shipping operations.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of customs clearing processes and shipping documentation.
• Knowledge of freight forwarding and supply chain operations.
• Strong reporting and administrative capabilities.
• Experience working within Africa is advantageous.
• Professional proficiency in French would be advantageous.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills.
