410321 - Retail Industry Advisor (Atlanta) - Old GRS 395739
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is seeking a seasoned Retail Industry Advisor to drive growth and delivery within our Retail Business Consulting practice in North America. Based in the Atlanta area, this leader will help strengthen TCS’s presence in the Southeast by partnering with regional and national retailers to deliver high-impact transformation programs spanning strategy, operating-model redesign, process improvement, and technology enablement.
The ideal candidate combines deep consulting expertise, commercial acumen, and hands-on retail transformation experience, with a passion for tackling complex business challenges across store operations, customer experience, digital commerce, and supply chain optimization.
This is a senior client-facing role requiring a balance of consulting excellence, business development, and relationship leadership — ideal for a commercially minded professional who thrives in dynamic retail environments and enjoys building trusted partnerships that drive measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Shape and execute the retail consulting strategy and plan for the Atlanta and broader Southeast region, in alignment with TCS’s Global Retail Consulting vision.
• Lead transformation engagements that enhance business performance across merchandising, operations, supply chain, and omnichannel functions.
• Act as a strategic advisor to senior retail executives, offering actionable insights and pragmatic recommendations that create value and accelerate growth.
• Collaborate closely with global and regional consulting leaders to align go-to-market priorities, delivery standards, and capability development plans.
Client Engagement & Business Development
• Build, nurture, and expand executive-level client relationships across leading retailers in the region.
• Identify, shape, and convert new opportunities by understanding client priorities and crafting tailored consulting propositions.
• Lead the development of strategic proposals, thought leadership, and value narratives that differentiate TCS in the retail market.
• Partner with account and industry leaders to drive pipeline growth, jointly developing go-to-market plans and pursuit strategies.
• Represent TCS at regional industry events, conferences, and executive forums to strengthen brand visibility and build professional networks.
Practice & Team Leadership
• Contribute to the growth and differentiation of TCS’s Retail Consulting Practice by developing new frameworks, methodologies, and points of view on retail transformation.
• Mentor and empower consultants and managers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and entrepreneurial culture.
• Partner with digital, analytics, and technology teams to design and deliver integrated business–technology solutions that bridge strategy and execution.
• Support internal capability building, recruitment, and knowledge-sharing across the broader North America Retail Consulting network.
Project Management & Operational Excellence
• Oversee engagement delivery to ensure exceptional quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
• Manage project economics including resource planning, forecasting, and profitability.
• Apply structured consulting methods and agile approaches to drive tangible, sustainable impact for clients.
• Champion continuous improvement, leveraging data and feedback to refine practice operations and delivery excellence.

("retail transformation" OR "operating model" OR "commercial transformation") AND (retail OR merchandising OR omnichannel OR "store operations") AND (strategy OR consulting OR transformation) NOT (SAP OR Oracle OR infrastructure OR "account executive" OR "enterprise sales")
The key is that we should not rely only on the title “Industry Advisor,” as that may be creating ambiguity. I think we may get better results by anchoring on retail companies, consulting firms, transformation keywords, and retail transformation titles.
