Job Description
Essential Job Functions: • Directly supervises 4-30 employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in collaboration with the Production Manager and/or Human Resources. • Drives change initiatives by challenging status quo processes, holding team members accountable for performance, and leading from the front through visible presence on the production floor. • Responsible for the direction of employees in the implementation of production schedules and priorities, ensuring adherence to posted schedules while maintaining steady, uninterrupted production and control of the shift. • Trains and evaluates employees on shift, focusing on capturing tribal knowledge, building product expertise, and growing the overall knowledge base to overcome operational challenges. • Assists with diagnosis of machinery problems and suggests changes to equipment and processes to improve efficiency of operations. • Assists in implementation of necessary safety procedures/equipment to improve safer operations and observes safety and security procedures at all times. • Assists with all special projects involving building and grounds as needed. • Communicates effectively with other shifts and employees to foster teamwork and continuity. • Knowledge of order entry into production planning system; assures shipments are met and that all material and paperwork are in order. • Maintains time and production records. • Monitors solvent storage area to maintain fewer than 91 drums (or equivalent compliance metrics). • Other duties may be assigned, with a focus on proactive problem-solving and process improvement in a dynamic setting.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Required: • Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's degree MINIMUM plus a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience. • Proven experience in Operations-related Management roles with hands-on supervision in fast-paced manufacturing environments. • Demonstrated ability to drive change, confront issues head-on, and lead in high-pressure settings while being floor-visible and accountable. • Experience demonstrating technical knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, special processing, assembly); ability to quickly learn products and tribal knowledge is essential. • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) skills. • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. • Project Management: Develops project plans; coordinates projects; communicates changes and progress; completes projects on time and budget; manages project team activities. • Customer Service: Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; meets commitments. • Interpersonal Skills: Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas. • Oral & Written Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and persuasively; demonstrates group presentation skills; presents numerical data effectively. • Teamwork & Leadership: Balances team and individual responsibilities; inspires and motivates others; effectively influences actions and opinions; gives appropriate recognition; exhibits confidence in self and others. • Delegation & Managing People: Delegates work assignments effectively; matches responsibility to the person; provides authority for independent work; monitors activities; includes staff in planning and decision-making; develops subordinates' skills; fosters quality focus and continual improvement. • Quality Management & Judgment: Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; displays willingness to make timely, sound decisions; supports reasoning and includes appropriate people in processes. • Safety and Security: Determines appropriate actions beyond guidelines; reports unsafe conditions; uses equipment properly. • Physical capability to thrive in a hands-on role: Not afraid of confrontation or direct involvement, with the stamina for a fast-paced floor environment. Preferred: • Bachelor's degree from a university. • Background in adhesives or related industries (helpful but not required). • Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software.
