Financial Reporting Specialist | International Mining Company | Sandton

An exceptional career opportunity exists with a leading international mining house, headquartered in Sandton, for an experienced and detail-driven Financial Reporting Specialist. This role calls for a CA(SA) with strong IFRS technical knowledge, proven financial reporting expertise, and a passion for driving accuracy, compliance, and efficiency within a global mining environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Manage and coordinate external audit processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all audit requirements.
• Support board reporting and group consolidation processes through accurate monthly submissions on HFM.
• Oversee accounting treatment for share-based payments, hedging, borrowing costs, and decommissioning/restoration provisions, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and DMRE regulations.
• Assist with impairment modelling and financial analysis for operating assets.
• Drive accuracy, transparency, and consistency across all financial statements and management reports.
• Collaborate with corporate finance, treasury, and operations teams to ensure alignment of financial data across the business.
• Continuously improve reporting processes, internal controls, and compliance frameworks to enhance financial integrity.
• Manage ad hoc financial projects, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• CA(SA) – essential.
• 5–8 years’ post-article experience in financial reporting or group consolidation – essential.
• Advanced IFRS technical proficiency and experience preparing annual financial statements.
• Corporate Finance exposure, including financial modelling, forecasting, and valuations – essential.
• Working knowledge of SAP, Sage, Caseware, and HFM – advantageous.
• Previous experience within the mining or heavy industry sector – highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, governance frameworks, and statutory compliance.
• Must be available to work 1st–7th of each month, regardless of day or public holiday.
• Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Proactive, innovative, and team-oriented, with a commitment to excellence and accuracy.
