The Head of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and administration of the Faculty/School of Pharmacy. This role includes academic leadership, faculty development, curriculum oversight, research promotion, and fostering partnerships with healthcare organizations and regulatory bodies. The Head of Pharmacy will ensure the highest standards of education, research, and professional practice in pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities: Academic Leadership & Administration: ● Provide strategic vision and leadership for the Faculty/School of Pharmacy. ● Oversee curriculum development, accreditation, and program enhancement to ensure compliance with national and international pharmacy education standards. ● Foster an academic environment that promotes excellence in teaching, learning, and research. ● Ensure the continuous improvement of pharmacy programs, keeping them aligned with industry trends and healthcare needs. ● Establish policies and procedures to enhance faculty and student performance.
Faculty Development & Management: ● Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members to maintain high academic and professional standards. ● Promote faculty research and professional development initiatives. ● Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement in innovative teaching methods.
Research & Innovation: ● Promote research and scholarly activities within the pharmacy faculty. ● Secure research funding and partnerships to advance pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare practices. ● Support faculty and students in publishing high-impact research in reputable journals.
Student Affairs & Development: ● Ensure a student-centered approach by fostering a supportive learning environment. ● Oversee student admission, progression, and professional development programs. ● Promote student engagement in research, leadership, and community service.
Regulatory & Industry Engagement: ● Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies, professional pharmacy organizations, and healthcare institutions.
● Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and national regulations. ● Advocate for pharmacy education and practice advancements at regional, national, and international levels.
Education & Experience: ● A PhD in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field (a Master’s degree with exceptional experience may be considered). ● A Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required. ● Minimum 10+ years of academic experience, including teaching, research, and leadership roles. ● Experience in administrative or leadership positions such as Dean, Head of Department, or similar roles.
