Job Title: Assistant General Manager – Compliance & Staff Coordination Location: Kano, Nigeria Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: 500K Monthly.
Job Overview This role requires a professional who is people-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing operational oversight with strong employee relations management.
Responsibilities Staff Welfare & HR Coordination • Serve as the primary contact for staff welfare matters, ensuring a positive and productive workplace environment. • Coordinate onboarding activities, including employee documentation, induction, and orientation, in collaboration with department heads. • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and HR documentation. • Monitor staff attendance, leave schedules, and absence management. • Address employee concerns, grievances, and workplace issues, escalating matters to the CEO where necessary.
Compliance & Policy Management • Develop, maintain, and enforce company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct. • Conduct periodic internal compliance audits to ensure adherence to company policies and operational standards. • Identify compliance gaps or operational risks and recommend corrective actions. • Maintain and update a compliance register and ensure timely resolution of identified issues. • Support external audits and regulatory reviews by ensuring all internal records and documentation are accurate and accessible. Performance Reporting & KPI Management • Develop and manage a structured staff performance reporting framework. • Work with department heads to define clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals. • Compile and present monthly staff performance reports to the CEO.
Key Performance Indicators (First 6 Months) • KPI framework implemented across all departments within 60 days • Monthly performance reports delivered to the CEO on schedule • Full internal policy and compliance audit completed within 90 days • 100% accuracy and completeness of employee HR documentation • Staff welfare concerns resolved within 14 days of escalation • Minimum of three SOPs documented per department within six months
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, compliance, operations management, or a related field. • Demonstrated experience managing staff processes and supporting operational governance. • Experience developing policies, reports, and internal documentation. • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking performance metrics and KPIs. • High emotional intelligence and discretion when handling staff matters • Ability to work closely with senior leadership • Experience working in agribusiness, FMCG, or export-oriented organizations • Knowledge of Nigerian labour law and HR best practices • Professional HR certification, such as CIPM, SHRM, or equivalent, is a plus
