The SCM Head will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain operations with a strong focus on bulk procurement of maize and cassava. The role involves strategic sourcing, vendor development, logistics management, inventory control, and cost optimization to ensure uninterrupted supply for operations.
Lead bulk procurement of maize and cassava from farmers, aggregators, and traders
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business goals
Identify and onboard reliable suppliers across regions
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements
Monitor market trends, seasonal availability, and price fluctuations
Build strong relationships with farmers, FPOs, and local vendors
Develop sustainable sourcing models and direct procurement channels
Ensure supplier performance evaluation and compliance
Oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution of raw materials
Ensure timely movement of goods from sourcing locations to processing units
Optimize logistics costs and improve turnaround time
Coordinate with transporters, warehouses, and internal teams
Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid stock-outs or overstocking
Forecast demand based on production requirements
Implement inventory control systems and processes
Ensure quality standards for maize and cassava procurement
Implement quality checks at sourcing and storage levels
Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Drive cost-saving initiatives across procurement and logistics
Prepare and manage procurement budgets
Analyze cost structures and improve efficiency
Lead and mentor procurement and supply chain teams
Set KPIs and monitor team performance
Ensure cross-functional coordination with production, finance, and operations
Identify supply risks (seasonal, climatic, market volatility)
Develop contingency plans and alternate sourcing strategies
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Business Administration, or related field
MBA / PGDM preferred
10–15+ years in supply chain/procurement
Minimum 5+ years in leadership role
Strong experience in agri-commodity procurement (maize, cassava, or similar crops)
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Deep understanding of agri supply chains and rural sourcing
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
