The Accountant will be responsible for managing plant-level accounting, statutory compliance, taxation, financial reporting, and internal financial controls for the ENA (Extra Neutral Alcohol) and Ethanol manufacturing operations in Uganda. The role requires strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting, inventory control, local tax laws, and regulatory compliance.
· Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Plant-level Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting.
· General ledger scrutiny and periodic account reconciliation.
· Ensuring accurate recording of production costs, sales, and expenses.
· Preparation of MIS reports for management review.
· Compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations.
· VAT return preparation and reconciliation.
· Withholding tax (WHT) compliance.
· PAYE and NSSF compliance for employees.
· Coordination during tax audits and statutory inspections.
· Ensuring compliance with excise duty regulations applicable to alcohol manufacturing.
· Monitoring accounting of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
· Reconciliation of production data with accounts and excise records.
· Coordination with production and stores teams for stock verification.
· Monitoring losses, wastage, and yield from a financial perspective.
· Vendor reconciliation and timely payment processing.
· Monitoring receivables from bulk buyers/distributors.
· Cash flow management and working capital monitoring.
· Handling banking transactions and documentation.
· Preparation of cash flow and fund flow statements.
· Managing LC documentation (if import/export involved).
· Liaison with banks and financial institutions.
· Coordination with external and internal auditors.
· Ensuring compliance with IFRS (if applicable).
· Maintaining strong internal controls and documentation.
· Supporting cost audit and management reporting.
