Job Title: Senior Engineer or Assistant Manager - Procurement (Mining Equipment & Spares) Location: Mining Site, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Department: SCM Reporting To: Head – SCM Supply Chain Management
1. Job Purpose This position will be responsible for the timely procurement and supply of spare parts, consumables, and services required for mining operations. The role will closely support the HEMM department by coordinating sourcing, vendor management, logistics, warranty follow-up, and inventory control to ensure continuous availability and efficient operation of mining equipment such as excavators, dumpers, loaders, dozers, graders, drilling machines, generators, trailers, light vehicles, etc.
2. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Vendor Management • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for mining equipment spare parts, consumables, and maintenance materials. • Procure spare parts for core drilling machines, excavators (50T class), dumpers (60T class), loaders, dozers, graders, trailers, diesel generators, light vehicles, etc. • Obtain quotations, perform technical and commercial comparisons, and prepare purchase recommendations. • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers. • Raise purchase orders and ensure timely procurement of critical spares. Coordination with HEMM Department • Maintain close coordination with the HOD – HEMM and maintenance team to understand spare parts requirements. • Support maintenance planning by ensuring availability of fast-moving and critical spare parts. • Review equipment maintenance schedules and forecast spare parts requirements. Logistics & Supply Chain • Coordinate with logistics teams and freight forwarders for international and local shipment of spare parts. • Track shipments from suppliers to site and ensure timely delivery. • Handle customs documentation, shipping follow-up, and clearance coordination where required. Inventory Management • Maintain optimum inventory levels for critical, fast-moving, and insurance spares. • Monitor stock levels and initiate procurement to avoid equipment downtime. • Work closely with the stores department for stock verification, material receipt, and stock reconciliation. • Maintain proper ERP/records for procurement and inventory tracking. Warranty & Service Claims • Track warranty coverage for equipment and spare parts. • Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers for warranty claims, defective parts replacement, and technical support. • Ensure proper documentation and follow-up until closure. Cost Control & Optimization • Monitor spare parts consumption and identify opportunities for cost reduction and standardization. • Develop alternate vendors to optimize procurement costs. • Maintain cost records and procurement reports. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain procurement documentation including RFQs, quotations, comparative statements, purchase orders, and delivery records. • Generate periodic reports on procurement status, inventory levels, and equipment spare parts consumption. • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies.
3. Qualification • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering
4. Experience • 5–10 years of experience in procurement of mining equipment / HEMM spare parts. • Experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment industries preferred. • Experience working in remote mining sites or international projects will be an advantage.
5. Required Skills • Strong knowledge of HEMM spare parts and maintenance requirements. • Vendor sourcing and negotiation skills. • Inventory management and spare parts planning. • Understanding of international procurement and logistics. • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel. • Strong coordination and communication skills with operations and maintenance teams.

7. Working Conditions • Site-based role at mining project location in DRC. • Requires close coordination with HEMM, maintenance, stores, and logistics teams. • May involve interaction with international OEM suppliers and logistics partners
