Geologist (Mining engineer)

Job Summary

Required for  Geologist to support mining and exploration operations in Dodoma, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for geological mapping, mineral exploration, resource evaluation, mine planning support, grade control, and providing technical inputs to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct geological mapping, field investigations, and mineral exploration activities.
• Supervise drilling programs, core logging, trenching, and sampling activities.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
• Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, block models, and technical reports.
• Estimate mineral resources and support reserve evaluation.
• Perform ore body interpretation and grade control to optimize production.
• Work closely with the Mining Engineer to develop mine plans and optimize pit design and extraction sequences.
• Provide geological recommendations for drilling, blasting, excavation, and ore recovery.
• Monitor ore quality, dilution, and recovery during mining operations.
• Coordinate with survey, mine planning, production, and processing teams to achieve production targets.
• Ensure accurate geological database management and reporting.
• Assist in feasibility studies and resource development projects.
• Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and statutory mining regulations.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and geological reports.
• Mentor junior geological staff and field technicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in mining, quarry, or mineral exploration projects.
• Experience in open-pit mining operations and resource estimation is preferred.
• Knowledge of geological modelling and mine planning software such as Surpac, Datamine, Micromine, Leapfrog, AutoCAD, or similar is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, drilling and blasting, grade control, and mine planning.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills in English; Swahili is an added advantage.
