Job Description: Head of Projects (Technical Services) Location: Ahmedabad Reports to: Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Team Size: 50 Vertical: Technical Services (Formulation Manufacturing) Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Projects (Technical Services) to lead the creation of state-of-the-art, highly automated manufacturing facilities. The role is critical in driving large-scale automation across greenfield and brownfield projects while ensuring adherence to global regulatory and compliance standards. This is a high-impact leadership position with an opportunity to shape the future of the organization’s manufacturing capabilities to remain competitive, compliant, and future-ready. About the Vertical Technical Services is the formulation manufacturing vertical with multiple manufacturing plants across India and neighboring countries. The vertical manufactures and supplies medicines to India, the US, Europe, EMB, and other global markets. The annual CAPEX investment ranges between ₹1500–₹2000 crores, covering both greenfield and brownfield expansions. Stakeholder Management The role will require close collaboration with: • All direct reportees of the CTO • Site leadership teams • Cross-functional partners: Supply Chain, Finance, Purchase, EHS, HR, and others Qualification & Skills • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering • Strong leadership and communication skills • Excellent stakeholder management and team-building capabilities • Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing project teams that create industry benchmarks Experience Requirements • Minimum 20 years of hands-on project management experience in FMCG or Chemical manufacturing setup • Proven experience in commissioning automated and lean manufacturing systems • Exposure to highly automated plants in FMCG/Chemical sectors will be an added advantage • Experience with multi-site large-scale CAPEX programs is desirable • Willingness to travel within and outside India as required Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution • Lead end-to-end execution of greenfield and brownfield projects—from concept design to construction, commissioning, and handover. • Ensure project delivery as per targeted timelines, budgets, and quality standards. • Design projects benchmarked against global industrial automation practices across manufacturing, packaging, engineering, and quality. Automation & Technology • Drive adoption of advanced technologies such as industrial robotics, AMR/AGV material movement, AI-based systems, IT/OT layer dashboards, and Industry 4.0. • Experience in conceptualizing and building dark / semi-dark factories is highly desirable. • Ensure facilities are designed for paperless operations from day one. Compliance & Governance • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines for India, US, Europe, EMB, and other key markets. • Ensure energy-efficient, sustainable, and EHS-compliant design and execution. • Integrate and harmonize Good Project Practices across the organization. Stakeholder & Vendor Management • Engage and manage external consultants, contractors, and vendors. • Work closely with Global Demand & Supply teams for equipment procurement and delivery. • Facilitate liaison with government authorities and regulatory agencies. Team Development & Leadership • Identify skill gaps and ensure required technical training for the team. • Build a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. • Conduct goal setting, performance appraisals, mentoring, and talent development. • Collaborate with HR on manpower planning, recruitment, and retention. Risk, Budget & Portfolio Management • Develop and manage large-scale project plans with aggressive budgets and timelines. • Anticipate risks and establish actionable mitigation plans. • Ensure execution is “Right First Time” with robust project documentation and architecture review. • Continuously identify future opportunities (3-year horizon) to enhance efficiency, introduce new technologies, redesign processes, and optimize manpower.
