Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Supervisor to provide clinical and operational leadership across multiple nursing units and hospital departments. The Nursing Supervisor will oversee patient care, staffing, and hospital operations during assigned evening, night, and weekend shifts while working closely with Clinical Managers and the Nursing Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will have strong acute-care leadership experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to make effective staffing and operational decisions in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical direction and leadership to nursing staff while serving as a professional role model.
Oversee and evaluate the quality of patient care provided by nursing personnel.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and make cost-effective staffing decisions.
Coordinate hospital operations and administrative activities during assigned shifts.
Serve as the onsite hospital representative for evening, night, and weekend operations.
Support Nursing Division goals, policies, procedures, and standards.
Collaborate with Clinical Managers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care.
Promote effective communication and cooperation among nursing and other hospital departments.
Assist with human resource management and promote a positive and professional work environment.
Participate as a member of the Nursing Leadership Team.
Promote a positive image of the Nursing Division through professional interactions with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and the community.
Demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional growth and development.
Apply appropriate clinical knowledge and judgment when overseeing care for patients ranging from infants to geriatric populations.
Required Qualifications
Education
Nursing degree required: Diploma, ASN, or BSN.
BSN preferred.
Experience
5+ years of Nursing Supervisor or House Supervisor experience in an acute-care hospital.
Previous Charge Nurse experience required.
Demonstrated nursing leadership experience required.
Strong clinical knowledge and ability to oversee patient care across a wide range of age groups.
Licensure & Certifications
Active Massachusetts RN license required
BLS required
ACLS required
