Sports Modeler

We are seeking a Sports Modeler to join our Research and Development team. You will be working in the field of sports simulation algorithms, both their code structure and the development of the machine learning modules which fuel them.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and contribute to Sports Model code bases, either with production code or, preferably, prototypes of original logic.
• Contribute to and understand data shaping and machine learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues on modeling from prototype and research, all the way to deployment.
• Learn to scrutinize, delegate, and manage the work of others.
• Work with contributors outside of R&D to educate other teams, but also to receive feedback and test hypotheses.

Requirements:

• Fluency in sports.
• Fluency in gambling.
• Strong ability in one or more step of the tech stack: prototyping (matlab or python), data shaping (matlab or python), machine learning (matlab or python), productionizing (C#), interfaces.
• Availability to work onsite in San José, Costa Rica, at least 2 days per week, or 4 days a week if living outside of the country some of the year.
• Conversational English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience modeling sports.
• Experience or expertise in gaming, gambling, games of chance (e.g., poker, backgammon, Magic: The Gathering), or classic strategy games (e.g., chess, Go).
• Professional English
