Job Description – SAP Business ByDesign (ByD) Functional Consultant

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP Business ByDesign (ByD) Functional Consultant to lead and support a structured ERP re-implementation project for a manufacturing organization. The role involves identifying and resolving functional gaps, improving statutory compliance, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and streamlining inventory management processes within the SAP ByD environment.

The consultant will work closely with the finance team, Chartered Accountant (CA), and technical support partners to ensure successful implementation and long-term operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

ERP Re-Implementation & Configuration

• Conduct a detailed AS-IS analysis of the existing SAP ByD setup across Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Sales, and Production modules.
• Identify functional gaps, configuration issues, and integration errors affecting system accuracy and reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement an optimized TO-BE solution aligned with business and statutory requirements.
• Configure and optimize modules including:
  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Tax Management
  • Inventory Management
  • Production Management
• Validate and clean master data including Chart of Accounts, Vendor Master, Customer Master, Material Master, and Tax Codes.

Statutory Compliance & Financial Reporting

• Review and correct TDS configurations in compliance with applicable Indian tax regulations.
• Ensure GST configurations are accurate, including:
  • HSN/SAC mapping
  • Tax determination logic
  • GST reporting accuracy
  • E-invoicing and e-way bill integration
• Ensure proper generation of statutory reports such as GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and related compliance reports.
• Support finance teams in ensuring ERP-generated financial statements align with statutory reporting standards.

Inventory & Stock Management

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to inaccurate stock positions and inventory mismatches.
• Correct inventory records and ensure accurate inventory valuation processes.
• Implement inventory reconciliation, cycle count, and physical stock verification procedures within SAP ByD.

Coordination with Technical Support Teams

• Act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external technical/AMC partners.
• Prepare functional specifications and maintain issue tracking documentation.
• Coordinate troubleshooting, system fixes, testing, and validation activities.
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for implemented changes and enhancements.

Documentation & Training

• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ERP processes.
• Conduct end-user training sessions for Finance, Procurement, Inventory, and Production teams.
• Prepare implementation and project completion reports for management review.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP Business ByDesign (ByD) implementation or re-implementation projects.
• Expertise in Finance, Inventory, Procurement, and Production modules within SAP ByD.
• Strong understanding of Indian taxation and statutory compliance requirements including GST and TDS.
• Experience in ERP data validation, reconciliation, and process optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with finance teams or Chartered Accountants during ERP implementation projects.
• Experience with SAP ByD e-invoicing and e-way bill integrations.
• Knowledge of API integrations and third-party connectivity tools.
• Experience coordinating with remote technical or AMC support teams.
• Exposure to manufacturing or industrial operations environments is preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Ability to independently manage functional ERP implementation responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of financial processes and statutory compliance requirements.
• Capable of coordinating effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience handling SAP ByD corrective implementations or re-implementation projects in manufacturing environments will be highly preferred.
