On behalf of our Client, a Banking Institution in Nicosia, we are seeking to recruit a Data Governance and Quality Officer
The Position:
The Data Governance and Quality Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, quality, and governance of the Organization's data assets. The Data Governance and Quality Officer will be responsible for implementing and enforcing data governance policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement in data management processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Governance:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data governance policies and procedures.
Monitor adherence to data governance policies and standards across the organization.
Identify and address gaps in data governance practices, recommending improvements to enhance data management processes.
Oversee data documentation and metadata management to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., BCBS239) and company policies.
Data Quality:
Define and implement data quality standards and procedures.
Monitor data quality metrics and identify issues, implementing corrective actions to improve data accuracy and reliability.
Establish and maintain a data catalog to facilitate data discovery and understanding.
Data Lifecycle Management:
Oversee the entire data lifecycle, from collection and storage to processing, analysis and reporting
Ensure proper data lineage and traceability throughout the data lifecycle.
Reporting and Metrics:
Develop and track key data governance metrics to assess the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
Prepare regular reports on data governance status, data quality metrics, and other relevant findings for management review.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business units, and legal, to ensure alignment on data governance principles and practices.
Foster a data-driven culture within the organization by promoting awareness of data governance principles and the importance of data quality.
Skills/ Qualifications/ Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field.
Understanding of data management principles including data life cycle and metadata management.
Familiarity with banking regulations (e.g. BCBS239) is a significant advantage.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Understanding of SQL databases, data architecture and reporting concepts is an advantage.
Any experience with data cataloging, data warehousing, metadata systems is a plus.
Relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Data Management Professional) are also a plus.

The position is for the Bank's offices in Nicosia, Cyprus.
