MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – WASTE AND WATER TREATMENT
Overview: The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment equipment. The role requires a proactive approach to supervising contractors, leading maintenance teams, and performing technical fault-finding and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Duties:
Preventative maintenance and risk management
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
Lead, train, and develop maintenance staff to enhance team capabilities.
Promote safety, reliability, and operational excellence within the maintenance team.
Contribute to the development and updating of risk assessments for maintenance tasks.
Develop critical spares lists.
2. Troubleshooting and repairs
Conduct troubleshooting and repairs on systems such as: - Telemetry and control systems - - Motor control centres (LV switchgear and installations)
Variable speed drives (VSDs), blowers, compressors, and pumps
Resolve technical issues related to electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
3. Installation, commissioning, and maintenance
Supervise and assist contractors with installing, maintaining, and repairing treatment plant equipment.
Lead the commissioning of plants and equipment, ensuring adherence to installation programs and procedures.
Oversee and take part in preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
Requirements:
Trade Tested Millwright preferred (Trade Tested Turner/Fitter or Electrician also considered).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in water and wastewater treatment.
Willingness to travel locally and internationally is essential.
Valid driver’s licence
Medical fitness: this role requires working in dynamic settings, including confined spaces, heights, and diverse outdoor conditions.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Computer literacy (MS Office)
Leadership experience with maintenance staff.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
Remuneration:
Negotiable between R25k to R35k CTC
