Technical Buyer

This role calls for a confident negotiator with some previous working experience in a similar role - who can work seamlessly with suppliers, spot cost-saving opportunities, and keep operations running smoothly. Role Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the full buying process — from sourcing and selecting suppliers to managing orders and contracts. You will:

• Coordinate RFQs, supplier vetting, and performance assessments.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery to secure the best value.
• Manage purchase orders from request through to delivery, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Work closely with operational teams to meet project and operational timelines.
• Keep procurement records up to date and accessible.
• Monitor industry trends and supplier performance to identify risks and opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and departmental cost-saving targets.

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma or Degree (NQF6 minimum) in a relevant qualification: either Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management
• At least 5 years’ experience in procurement/buying, ideally in a technical or manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and Google Suite applications.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with a track record of supplier relationship management.
• Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of working at pace without sacrificing accuracy.
• CIPS membership would be an advantage.
