Position Title: Multimodal Estimator
Location: Johannesburg (East Rand), South Africa

Salary: Negotiable (Between R 25 000 - R 30 000 CTC)
Job Purpose:
The Multimodal Estimator is responsible for preparing and managing comprehensive quotations for a wide range of freight services, including air, sea, and road transport. The role requires a strong understanding of logistics processes, costing principles, and a meticulous attention to detail to provide competitive and accurate pricing to both new and existing clients.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare and submit accurate and timeous quotations for multimodal freight solutions (air, sea, road freight).
-Analyze routing options, transit times, and carrier rates to develop competitive proposals.
-Collaborate with sales and operations teams to understand client needs and create effective logistics solutions.
-Negotiate rates with shipping lines, airlines, and road transport subcontractors to secure the best possible pricing.
-Evaluate risks, surcharges, and customs considerations to ensure all costs are accounted for.
-Maintain and update a database of rates, tariffs, and costing information.
-Stay informed of changes in local and international freight regulations, tariffs, and market trends.
-Assist with the compilation of rates and solutions for tenders and RFQs (Request for Quotation).
-Provide support to the operational team during the handover of a secured quote to ensure smooth execution.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience doing import & export estimates in the freight industry
- Knowledge of Incoterms both ways import & export (Air & Sea) - Clients and Agents
- Break Bulk / Project estimate experience
- Knowledge of freight related calculations
- Tender related enquiries
- Good time management
- Good understanding of Excel, Outlook, word (Knowledge of Excel and how formulas work is a very important skill)
- A team player with a professional and client-centric approach
- Good communication skills
- Work well under pressure - fast and quick (turnaround times on estimates are very important)
- Overall understanding of the freight process
