Mobile Developer
Description
We are seeking a hands-on Mobile Developer to join an enterprise engineering team based in Sandton, Johannesburg. This is an on-site role (mandatory 8 hours in office) focused on building, maintaining, securing, and supporting enterprise-grade mobile applications for iOS and Android using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript. The role contributes to high-quality mobile delivery by translating business and design requirements into robust technical solutions, integrating with enterprise services, and supporting CI/CD and release processes while maintaining strong engineering discipline.
Location: Sandton, JHB — Work from office mandatory (8 hours in office).
Duration: 6 months (renewal possible).
Note: All checks must be clear prior to engagement.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
- Implement polished user interfaces from Figma, wireframes, and design systems with attention to accessibility and performance.
- Integrate mobile apps with enterprise RESTful APIs, authentication flows, and secure storage solutions.
- Support enterprise CI/CD pipelines and release processes using Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines, automated builds, signing, and approval workflows.
- Manage monorepo structures, shared packages, dependency management, and mobile workspace tooling.
- Implement and maintain observability and error reporting (Dynatrace, Sentry, Splunk) and support production incident response.
- Ensure mobile security, performance optimization, accessibility, and compliance with enterprise quality gates.
- Author and maintain automated tests; apply TDD/BDD practices and support unit testing and mobile quality checks.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams, participate in code reviews, and maintain high standards of engineering delivery.
- Support app distribution and lifecycle management via App Store Connect, TestFlight, Google Play Console, and internal distribution channels.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity while maintaining code quality and engineering judgement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience building and maintaining iOS and Android apps in enterprise environments using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.
- Strong JavaScript and React fundamentals, including modern state management and navigation patterns.
- Practical experience with enterprise CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps), automated signing, and mobile release management.
- Experience with observability and error/analytics tools such as Dynatrace, Sentry, or Splunk.
- Demonstrable understanding of mobile security, performance, accessibility, and production support practices.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and implementing secure authentication and storage flows.
- Familiarity with automated testing, TDD/BDD approaches, and mobile test strategies.
- Ability to convert Figma designs and design system components into pixel-perfect, accessible mobile UI.
- Excellent Git, code review, and Agile/Scrum experience.
- All background and security checks must be clear prior to start.
