Walter Everett is a specialist recruitment agency, and we are currently supporting our client in the search for a talented and driven Technical Support Engineer - Security to join their team in Glasgow.
Technology Administration and Operations
Carry out configuration tasks in compliance with technical and security policies.
Deliver accurate and timely support for queries, incidents, events, and change requests.
Proactively monitor infrastructure and resolve issues.
Respond to and recover from incidents in line with service level agreements.
Participate in an on-call rota to ensure 24x7 operational support.
Software Management
Perform maintenance on systems, including patching and version updates.
Support audits and capacity planning activities.
Analyse and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
Project Support
Assist with project-related infrastructure changes and modernisation.
Create and maintain technical documentation for design, build, and operational procedures.
Support environment automation to streamline deployments and configurations.
You’ll have a proven track record in supporting infrastructures across a range of technologies. Experience with the following is highly desirable:
Security: Cisco (LAN/WAN/WLAN/Telephony), Fortinet (WAN / SD-WAN), Check Point, Palo Alto, Infoblox (DHCP & DNS), Bluecoat, Zscaler
Load Balancing & Proxies: Citrix NetScaler or similar
Tools & Platforms: Experience with Catalyst Center, FortiManager, Panorama
Scripting/Automation: PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible (or similar)
ITSM Systems: Familiarity with support ticketing platforms
Strong communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical details to various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to thrive under pressure.
Client-centric mindset with a drive to provide excellent service throughout the client journey.
Eagerness to stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
Fast learner with a proactive attitude.
Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA+, Fortinet FCA+, Check Point CCSA+)
Hold or be willing to complete BS7858 clearance
Valid UK Driving Licence (travel required)
