Shift Supervisor

Position: Shift Supervisor for Edible Oil Refinery

Location: Kampala, Uganda 

Reporting to: Production Officer/Production Manager 

Education, Qualification, Experience: 

• Diploma in mechanical engineering or production engineering or graduate in science.

• At least 2 years relevant experience in a manufacturing plant in a Supervisory position

Authority And Independence:  

The Shift Supervisor has full authority delegated by the Production Officer as per the requirements, duties and responsibility of the job

Work Condition: 

1. Work 48 hrs a week and extensions where required.
2. Exposure to high temperatures, dust, dirt, and high noise levels from the equipment

3. Maintenance duties also may require contact with oil, grease, or smoke

4. You may spend much of the time on your feet

Physical & Mental Efforts: 

1. Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly.
2. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
3. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.

Duties And Responsibilities:  

• Supervise and take responsibility for machines & production output in a shift.

• Assigning work to machine operators & machine helpers, monitoring their performances.   

• Monitor the machines, their performance and efficiency.

• Material management.

• Achieving the target set for the production plant.

• Basic trouble shooting of product related defects on production.

• Reporting of any malfunctions/abnormality of the machines or products to the productions Officer on time.

• Should monitor the quality of products and adjust if any deviation as per the requirement.

• Monitor & analyze the rejection produced on machine and working towards zero rejection or less that the acceptable limit defined.    

• In liaison with the productions officer assist in the appraisal and performance of subordinates.

• Prepare daily shift production reports & other reports as assigned by production officers/manager.  

• Participate in routine stock taking at the plant.

• Monitor movement of finished products from the production plant to the warehouse.

• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards

• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

• Any other duties assigned by the Production Officer/manager.

Skills and Competencies: 

• Ability to effectively & efficiently control manpower.

• Good communication skills including reading skills.

• Mechanical ability.

• Self motivated towards work & motivating others.  

• Ability to work in high places.

• The ability to get along with co-workers

• The ability to keep up to date with changing technology

• Creativity.

• The ability to do precision work.

• Good knowledge of HACCP and general ISO standards are a must.

Work Environment: 

This job entails movements outside the office to different locations, especially to the manufacturing/process areas.

Net of Tax Salary  

Accommodation with Basic Furnishing & Utilities. 

Electricity, Water paid by Company.

All other personal expenses are to be borne by self.

NSSF - (similar to PF ) Company contribution is over & above the Salary. 

Tickets to India, After a Year with leave for Bachelor status .
