Deputy General Manager – Taxation

Our client is into Glass Manufacturing.

Role Objective:
The Deputy General Manager – Taxation is responsible for execution and compliance of statutory requirements relating to Income Tax, TDS, and Service Tax. The role coordinates with finance and accounts teams across all business units and corporate functions for Balance Sheet Finalisation, Tax Audit, and Legal MIS related to taxation matters.

Financial Compliance

• Ensure timely computation and submission of Income Tax, Service Tax, and TDS returns to avoid penalties.
• Attend scrutiny assessment hearings before the Income Tax Officer and TDS Officer as per schedule.
• Prepare quarterly advance tax for the company, partnership firms, trusts, investment companies, and individuals and arrange timely payments.
• Compute tax liability of employees of the previous year for payment from Provident Fund.

TDS & Process Management

• Ensure day-to-day TDS compliance across the organization.
• Withhold tax under DTAA, certify with CA, upload remittance details to the Income Tax Department, and coordinate TDS certificate collection from all units for foreign suppliers/service providers.
• Coordinate with Income Tax Authorities to submit replies under Section 133(6), NSDL queries, and confirmation of TDS figures.
• Ensure timely e-filing of quarterly TDS returns for investment companies, partnership firms, salary and non-salary returns, Provident Fund, and Trust entities.
• Review quarterly TDS on salary for HO employees and issue TDS certificates; prepare and issue TDS certificates for investment companies, trusts, provident fund, and partnership firms.
• Coordinate with Income Tax/TDS Authorities for scrutiny cases and arrange required information for Assessing Officers during hearings.
• Follow up with the Income Tax Department for collection of refunds, rectification, and appeal effect orders.

Tax Returns & Audit

• Prepare and file Income Tax returns for the company, partnership firms, trusts, investment companies, and individuals.
• Coordinate with Statutory Auditors to prepare Tax Audit Reports for corporate office, business units, associates, and subsidiaries.
• File half-yearly Service Tax returns for applicable entities.
• Prepare and issue Service Tax distribution challans to business units as applicable.

MIS & Records

• Manage Legal MIS for Direct Tax on a monthly basis for the company, investment companies, partnership firms, trusts, etc.
• Maintain records and authorize gratuity payments for employees across locations.
• Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual payment of Income Tax and TDS (salary and non-salary).

Skills Required

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple statutory compliances simultaneously.
• Good networking, liaison, and negotiation skills with tax authorities and auditors.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and related software programs.
• Experience in dealing with Income Tax Authorities, Statutory Auditors, Service Tax Authorities, and Consultants/Vendors.

Qualification

• Chartered Accountant (CA)

Experience

• 10–12 years of experience in taxation, preferably in a manufacturing company.
